A Simplified Reaction Mechanism for Propane Combustion

چکیده

A simplified reaction mechanism for propane combustion has been derived. This scheme is based on two competitive fuel decomposition reactions. Further, the combustion of hydrogen has been used to derive the concentrations of the intermediate reactive species, and the kinetic parameters for the rate equations are estimated through comparison of the species concentrations calculated using detailed mechanisms available in the literature. Calculated concentrations of nitrogen oxides INOJ and carbon monoxide found using this mechanism agree well with previously published experimental data.

The Role of Aldehydes as Degenerate Branching Intermediate in the Oxidation of Hydrocarbons

The thermal oxidation of propane in the temperature range 350-425oC was studied in order to elucidate the role of higher aldehydes as degenerate branching intermediates in the oxidation of hydrocarbons. In the slow combustion of propane, the high yield of propylene and methanol as the primary products, the formation of hydrogen peroxide, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, formaldehyde and steam a...

Kinetic Isotopic Effects in Oxidative Dehydrogenation of Propaneon Vanadium Oxide Catalysts

Kinetic isotopic effects (KIEs) for oxidative dehydrogenation of propane were measured on 10 wt% V2O5/ZrO2. Normal KIEs were obtained using CH3CH2CH3 and CD3CD2CD3 as reactants for primary dehydrogenation (2.8) and combustion (1.9) of propane and for secondary combustion of propene (2.6), suggesting that in all cases C–H bond dissociation is a kinetically relevant step. CH3CH2CH3 and CH3CD2CH3 ...

A reduced mechanism for methane and one-step rate expressions for fuel-lean catalytic combustion of small alkanes on noble metals

A reduced mechanism and a one-step rate expression for fuel-lean methane/air catalytic combustion on an Rh catalyst are proposed. These are developed from a detailed microkinetic model using a computer-aided model reduction strategy that employs reaction path analysis, sensitivity analysis, partial equilibrium analysis, and simple algebra to deduce the most abundant reaction intermediate and th...

Large eddy simulation of propane combustion in a planar trapped vortex combustor

Propane combustion in a trapped vortex combustor (TVC) is characterized via large eddy simulation coupled with filtered mass density function. A computational algorithm based on high order finite difference (FD) schemes, is employed to solve the Eulerian filtered compressible Navier-Stokes equations. In contrast, a Lagrangian Monte-Carlo solver based on the filtered mass density function is inv...

Effects of molybdena on the catalytic properties of vanadia domains supported on alumina for oxidative dehydrogenation of propane

The oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) of propane was investigated on vanadia dispersed on alumina containing a nominal polymolybdate monolayer (4.8 Mo/nm2). Dehydrogenation rates and selectivities on these catalysts were compared with those on vanadia domains dispersed on alumina. At a given vanadia surface density, ODH reaction rates per gram of catalyst were about 1.5–2 times greater on MoOx -c...
